Anastacia To Have Breast Cancer Surgery
Dance music diva Anastacia has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo surgery to remove a lump.
“My doctor was insistent that I have a mammogram even though it was not required. He saved my life,” she said in a statement. “I appreciate all who are concerned, but please don’t worry. Either way I have no intention of letting this news get me down. I’m a fighter by nature and nothing will ever change that.”
Doctors reported that that disease was discovered in its early stages for proper treatment and the 29-year-old singer will continue to work until the surgery. Anastacia also suffers from the bowel and intestine condition Crohn’s disease, and underwent an operation for the illness when she was 13 years old.
Anastacia still plans to shoot a scheduled video for her next single. Her past hits include “I’m Outta Love” from her 2001 Epic debut album Not That Kind, which was followed by last year’s Freak Of Nature. Her song “Boom!” was chosen as a World Cup anthem in 2002, which she performed the number at the closing ceremony of the games in Japan. She contributed the track “Love Is Crime” to the soundtrack from Chicago, a song inspired by the musical.
Anastacia and 1980s pop star Cyndi Lauper appear together in a current TV ad for the soft drink Dr. Pepper.
