When on the road to fame, it’s natural to make mistakes. They help us to learn and are native to achieving success. Sometimes, however, we tend to make these mistakes without ever realizing it. After dealing with hundreds of artists I have come to realize that there are a few oversights that are most common among the community that may even impede their journey to stardom. I have a few tips that can help speed up the process of getting noticed and obtain more substance for your press kit.

Tip #1: Stay organized. This tip will help make the rest of these tips possible. With all of the available outlets the Internet provides us nowadays, it’s easy to get lost in the sea of information. Your web browser provides the capability to save web addresses so you can return to them later. These are referred to as favorites or bookmarks. Any site you visit and submit music, news, or any other form of media should be saved. Create a separate folder in your browser’s favorite/bookmark manager and store these links within that folder and check back with the site periodically. This will help you to track your progress throughout the web with a simple click of the mouse.

GoGirls Last Band Standing Finalists Announced

Police May Link Lil’ Kim Pal to 50 Cent Shooting

Linked to the investigation into who shot at 50 Cent and his posse last month in a Jersey City hotel parking lot is another rapper, and this time it’s not rival Ja Rule. It’s Lil’ Kim, who is romantically linked to ex-convict Damian ”World” Hardy, the New York Daily News reports. Hardy is a subject of a Jersey City police probe into the incident, law enforcement sources tell the Daily News.

The paper’s sources say that police have not questioned Hardy, who is staying at the rap diva’s home in New Jersey’s Bergen County, but they have shown his picture to witnesses. Hardy’s rap sheet includes time served for shooting at narcotics officers and tampering with a witness, the Daily News.

Report: Love Arrested and Hospitalized

Courtney Love was arrested in Southern California early Thursday for allegedly being under the influence of a narcotic after police responded to a burglary call at a home where the actress-musician had allegedly broken the windows in an attempt to enter, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Don Cox told the Associated Press. Love, 39, was arrested in the Wilshire district of Los Angeles and booked for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance, said Cox. She posted $2,500 bail and was released.
