Mindy McCready Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt; Singer In Stable Condition
Country singer Mindy McCready, who just turned 33 in November was hospitalized after attempting to commit suicide. According to authorities the singer cut her wrists and took several pills in an apparent suicide attempt and was found by her brother Timothy McCready who lives with her after his mom contacted him. The star was taken to a hospital in Nashville, TN on Tuesday night and is stated to be in stable condition at the Centennial Medical Center.
This is not the first time the singer has attempted to commit suicide. The singer reportedly has been struggling with legal and personal problems and was making a comeback attempt.
As previously reported, in 2004, McCready was convicted for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers. The singer plead guilty and was placed on three years of probation and was ordered to do 200 hours of community service. In 2005, McCready was stopped by Nashville police for speeding and was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
In August of 2005, the singer was found unconscious in a hotel after ingesting large amounts of alcohol and two unidentified substances. She was found by aspiring country singer William McKnight, who identified himself to authorities as her fiancé and provided them with what seemed to be a four-page suicide note.
In July 2007, the country star was arrested in Ft. Myers, Florida after police were called. McCready was charged with battery and resisting arrest for an apparent scuffle with her mother.
In October, Mindy McCready was released from jail in Tennessee after serving about 30 days for violating probation on a previous drug charge. The singer only served half of her sentence due to good behavior and doing janitorial work in the jail. The singer was also allegedly accused of falsifying her community service records and was charged with violating her probation.
The last album from the singer was her self-titled album “Mindy McCready” under Capitol Nashville in 2002. The singer’s latest single was released in May entitled “I’m Still Here,” which was stated to be a comeback song for the singer. The singer made the song available for free on her website http://www.officialmindymccready.com/ and stated that she wrote the song while behind bars.
