Singer and new mother Kelis is back to her music and has released a new track entitled “Acapella” which was recorded by UK electronica-dance producer David Guetta. This is the first single from the singer since leaving Jive Records/Zomba in 2007 who released a greatest hits album after her departure.
The announcement of the song came from Kelis via Twitter (twitter.com/iamkelis) and on her Myspace site (myspace.com/kelis) on November 23rd.
The singer wrote, “Haven’t tweeted in awhile so I feel like I owe u something fun ;) My new song is called Acapella. Enjoy! xo”
Kelis states that she’s almost done with her fifth studio album which is due sometime in 2010 via her new label will.i.am music group/Interscope Records which is also the label home of artists Fergie, Macy Gray, Paradiso Girls, among others.
In other news, Kelis filed for divorce from husband and rapper Nas in April 2009 citing irreconcilable differences. On July 23, two days after the birth of her son Knight, a New York City Judge ordered Nas to pay Kelis $55,000 per month in child and spousal support.
