Madonna On M.I.A’s Finger Flip At Super Bowl, ‘Such A Teenager and Irrelevant’
Madonna, who performed at the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 with rapper Nicki Minaj and finger flipping M.I.A by her side for the collaboration of ‘Give Me All Your Luvin,’ called in and spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his show this morning on KIIS-FM. During Madonna and Ryan Seacrest’s conversation, he had to ask Madonna about M.I.A’s finger flip-off action during their Super Bowl XLVI halftime show performance, which caused quite an uproar and frenzy online.
According to Madonna, she didn’t know about the incident until she was leaving out of the venue. Madonna, 53, went on to tell Ryan Seacrest that she wasn’t happy about it and felt the feeling of love and good energy and positivity and that seemed negative. The singer went on to compare M.I.A. born Mathangi Arulpragasam, 36, finger sign to a teenager that does irrelevant things.
“It’s one of those things, it’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do… there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place,” stated Madonna.
In addition to performing with M.I.A., the star also performed her song “Like A Prayer” with Cee-Lo Green. Madonna says it was like a religious experience due to the stadium being lit up like candles.
“I started crying. I felt an incredible sense of warmth, love, and support,” Madonna told Ryan Seacrest.
Other medleys performed were “Vogue”, “Music”, “Open Your Heart” and “Express Yourself.”
