Antara & Delilah are kicking off 2002 in a big way with the release of their second CD, From Here. Voted “favorite local band” by the readers of the Santa Barbara News Press, Antara & Delilah will release this new album at SOhO on January 13th in Santa Barbara.
From Here’s 14 original songs are clearly marked by a collaborative spirit, evident in their co-writing as well as their camaraderie with the musicians that joined them in the studio. Of particular note is Jeff Pevar (The “P” in David Crosby’s CPR, Shawn Colvin, Rickie Lee Jones), who wends his way effortlessly through many of the tracks on the album. Other contributing musicians include: Tom Ball (Ball & Sultan) on harmonica, Jesse Seibenberg (Supertramp) on drums, Lorenzo Martinez on percussion, John Mooy on guitar, Kristin Anderson on saxophone and Jeff Kranzler (FM1960) on bass. From Here was produced by Robinson Eikenberry.
Antara & Delilah’s songwriting is driven by everyday life experiences and ranges from haunting to humorous to political. “Antara & Delilah showcase playful fire and funny lyrics with tunes like I’m Not Sorry, [an] anthem for independent women everywhere” (Bill Frost, Salt Lake City Weekly). And while Antara & Delilah shine with their humor, ultimately it is their memorable music that audiences from Austin to Boston and Boulder to Santa Barbara come back for.
