Christina Milian Says New Album Will Be More Urban
Def Soul artist, actress, and MTV host Christina Milian plans for her still-untitled U.S. debut album, due out in 2003, to feature more hip-hop and R&B-influenced songs than the self-titled album she issued overseas in early 2002.
Christina Milian featured a combination of pop and R&B tracks. The 21-year-old artist explained to LAUNCH how her new album will be different. “It was a bit mixed, my first album. I think with this next album, it is a bit more urban, and I want it to pretty much flow a little bit more. Instead of having a whole bunch of great songs, but not really being able to like know who I am. I really want to put it together, and people to get to know me, and go through a journey with me through my music. And also, I think music has changed in a way, too. So, I’m kinda into more urban feel. So, I got Ja Rule, Charli Baltimore, Irv Gotti, I’m working with a lot of different people. It’s great.”
Baltimore is featured on Milian’s current single “Spending Time.” Milian debuted on Ja Rule’s “Between Me And You” from his 2000 album, Rule 3:36. Ja Rule returned the favor the following year when he collaborated with Milian on her song “Get Away.”
Milian, who appeared in the movie American Pie, will also be featured in two new films, Torque with Ice Cube, and “If You Were My Girl” with Nick Cannon.
