Patti Labelle Records Anthem For NASA
Patti LaBelle has recorded a special anthem for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) titled “Way Up There.” The song, written by longtime LaBelle collaborator Tena Clark, will serve as the agency’s theme song, as well as the theme song for the 100th anniversary of the George and Orville Wright’s first flight. The track is currently available as a CD-single.

LaBelle explained how she became a part of the project. “I got involved with this project through my friend Tena Clark,” LaBelle said. “And when she called me she said, ‘Patti girl, I would not call you unless it’s something real.’ Once she got me on the phone, we just talked about everything, and she played the song for me, and she said it needed to be done soon. And I said, ‘Of course, I’ll be here for you.'”
