Avril Lavigne Announces ‘Try To Shut Me Up’ Tour
Fans of singer Avril Lavigne need not worry: She won’t be shutting up anytime soon. The 18-year-old Grammy nominee has officially announced her first North American headlining trek, dubbed the Try To Shut Me Up tour, in support of her five-times-platinum debut album, Let Go.
The Canadian singer’s five-week tour will visit 28 cities in North America starting April 9 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, and wrapping up May 17 at the First Union Center in Philadelphia. Opening for Lavigne will be her Arista labelmates and Canadian punk rockers Gob.
Lavigne recently received five Grammy nominations, including song of the year and best female pop vocal performance for “Complicated”; best female rock vocal performance for “Sk8er Boi”; best pop vocal album for Let Go; and best new artist. The Grammys will air live from 8 to 11:30 p.m. ET February 23 on CBS.
In addition, Lavigne has two Brit Award nominations–for best international female and best breakthrough artist. Lavigne is scheduled to perform at the Brit Awards in London on February 20.
Let Go has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date.
