Ashanti & Ja Rule Command The Stage In Barbados
Barbados will host the ultimate hip-hop collaborative duo, Ja Rule and Ashanti of Murder Inc. Records, for ‘Mesmerize’, a one-time concert at the island’s National Stadium on Saturday, April 19, 2003. Named for the artists’ joint single, which has scorched the top of the U.S. music charts, ‘Mesmerize’ will heat up live in the tropical backdrop of Barbados.
The concert is produced by Mix 96.9 FM, a contemporary hit radio station in Barbados, in association with Dynasty Entertainment. Choice FM (UK) and RJR (Jamaica) will be broadcasting the event live and stations such as Hot 97 (New York) and Hot 93 (Trinidad) will be running travel promotions for their listeners to attend ‘Mesmerize’.
Ja Rule has been responsible for some of today’s hottest hip-hop verses, such as ‘Always on Time,’ featuring Ashanti and ‘Ain’t it Funny,’ with Jennifer Lopez. The success of Ja’s albums is attributed to his distinctive gravel-stone voice and fiery presence. Ashanti broke out onto the music scene in March of 2002 when she held three of the Top 10 positions on the Billboard chart. Introduced to the world through duets with Ja Rule (‘Always on Time’) and Fat Joe (‘What’s Luv?’), Ashanti’s very own “Foolish” brought her to the top of the charts, establishing her as the princess of hip-hop.
