Awww… how sad you had to postpone your wedding date. Not! Ok, Ben & Jen don’t get us wrong, but you already know that everyone is going to be watching you all. The best way to keep people uninterested is to bare it all. But you wouldn’t want to do that, cause if you did, no one would be interested in your next occasion.;)
For those of you who don’t know what happened, Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez postponed their Santa Barbara-area nuptials because too many details of the event had been leaked and reported in the press. (People like to keep up with the latest trends and designers.)
The couple said in a joint statement released Wednesday (September 10), “When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry.”
Calls were made to wedding guests on Wednesday informing them that the event was off, according to Lopez’s publicist, Dan Klores.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Lopez made some of the calls herself and was said to be, “very upset and difficult to understand through her tears.” (Big girls don’t cry!)
Lopez and Affleck also said in their statement that the media’s focus on their wedding had tainted the occasion. “We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised,” the couple said. “We felt that what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families, and our friends.”
The secrecy surrounding the wedding is in direct contrast to the way Lopez said the event would be handled. She said in a Dateline interview in July: “It’s not going to be a thing where we’re trying to hide or anything like that.” (Hmm.. so what are you trying to do now then?)
