Hilary Duff Signs for CBS Sitcom
TV shows starring people over the age of 18 are, like, so yesterday.
Continuing its quest for younger viewers, CBS has signed a deal with 16-year-old singer-actress Hilary Duff to star in a new sitcom pilot for the 2004-2005 season, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show will likely be in the vein of ”Family Ties,” the trade paper reported (although it seems doubtful that Duff will play a Michael J. Fox-style teen conservative).
Duff’s future on TV became uncertain after she quit Disney’s hit ”Lizzie McGuire” show, which spawned an equally popular movie. She’s since topped charts as a singer with her single ”So Yesterday,” and filmed roles in the upcoming films ”Cheaper by the Dozen” and ”A Cinderella Story.” Duff told EW this summer that she enjoys a multitasking life: ” I’m 15, so I have lots of energy, and I’m not tired yet.” Presumably, her energy persists even though she’s now 16.
