THE GRAMMY AWARDS: INDUSTRY HYPE OR REALITY???
THE GRAMMY AWARDS: INDUSTRY HYPE OR REALITY???
I think the public needs to know the truth about how this Industry functions. Music is NOT spelled M_U_S_I_C, it’s M_O_N_E_Y!!!
After Dianne D Meinke the creator of the band the STIFFFF KITTIES at http://www.stiffffkitties.com received notification of 5 legitimate Grammy Nominations for two 2003 debut CD releases, “Witches Dance” & “Mya’s Book of the Dead” she should be honored. Instead, she was disgusted immensely!!!
“What the public doesn’t see is the nominations other than the five who have paid & will pay dearly for the top 5 positions in each category.
It costs these artists a purported $100,000 – $375,000 dollars to have the “privilege” to be a top 5 nominee. So, in essence…these awards are NOT earned, but extremely expensive advertising which will be charged back to the artists at an outrageous interest rate.
If you don’t believe me when I say I am on the nomination list, or that there are more than 5 nominations for each category, then my challenge to you is become a voting member of the Recording Academy and see for yourself. Find out how easy it is to become a voting member at the following link.
“Speak out for your rights through advocacy”
Now before you start thinking I am sore like the little bratty kid who didn’t get their lolly pop…or I’m having a temper tantrum because I didn’t make the 2nd cut on the Grammy nominations…put your breaks on & hold onto your pants!!!
WHAT I REALLY WANT..(& it’s NOT the lolly pop/Grammy) is to see the music Industry to stop lying to the public, and itself. MY HOPE IS, by reading this article; at the very least one ounce of you will look at the Grammy’s in a whole different light, & see the truth of what is there.
Quite honestly, I wouldn’t want any award which I didn’t rightfully earn anyway.”

VMG NEWS UPDATE — Number 08, Volume 4 — August 2003
THOSE EVER-PHONY GRAMMY AWARDS ARE UP AND RUNNING, AGAIN!
We had 34 Grammy Nominations in 2002, and SEVENTEEN (17) submitted for entry noms this go-round (2003). We WILL NOT ‘buy’ any ‘award’, Grammys included. And THAT is how you get them. You BUY them. Just like Billboard and R&R charts, Clear Channel (and a lot of other) radio air time, etcetera.
ADVERTISING produced by Grammy hype and circumstance is well vested! It might even sell a copy or two, and it damned sure helps the Concert Venue attendance. Even in this NAFTA & GATT-destroyed economy. When and IF they ever get rid of their phony award ‘process’, we might consider making the investment in campaign advertising (but nothing under the table) as Artist Promotion. But not until ┘ ┘
2003 has been the worst year yet for record sales. Flat as a fritter. A real THIN fritter. And getting worse. The reason is NOT downloading or counterfeiting, although both are a problem. The reason is: General Farrell blew the whistle on bought radio and Billboard’s and R&R’s phony charts and the public has rebelled against being crammed with what the record companies want to sell!
Even with all the ignorance the public still retains about this Best Of All Industries, Grammy drum-thumping is a bit of a welcome relief. Nothing like watching master-liars and outright fools on parade.
