Celine’s Pain in the Neck
Celine Dion’s called a time-out, canceling three of her shows at Caesars Palace this week for some much needed R&R.
The French-Canadian chanteuse has nixed A New Day… performances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the behest of her doctor, who told her she needed to rest.
Refunds will be issued to ticketholders.
According to a statement on her official Website, Dion’s been suffering from a sprained neck for the past week, a condition that’s been aggravated by doing her show.
Earlier this week, the doctor ordered Dion to bed for five days to speed her recovery. She’s expected back on stage Saturday night.
She’s currently in the second year of a three-year run at the Las Vegas hotel.
The 36-year-old performs 200 shows per year at the specially-constructed 4,000-seat Colosseum, which cost $95 million to build.
Dion, who renewed her vows in Sin City in 2000, is earning a whopping $100 million paycheck for the three-year engagement created by Cirque du Soleil producer Franco Dragone (O and Mystre).
When the showgirl’s not performing, the casino has tapped Elton John to step into her sequins. The Rocket Man inked a three-year deal to perform 75 shows at the Colosseum. The Red Piano spectacular began in February.
Other big names tapped to fill the house when Dion’s on vacation include Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw, Gloria Estefan and Jerry Seinfeld.
