VH-1 Song Of The Year Announces Winner Helen Slater
Singer/Songwriter Helen Slater recently received the honor of being named Finalist by the Song of the Year ( http://www.songoftheyear.com/ ) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.
Song of the Year is excited to recognize Slater for her exceptional songwriting ability for the song Any Day Now. Helen competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song Helen commented that “I wrote this as an exercise in tin pan alley music. I fell in love with the genre and have since written a lot of other songs in the same style”. Currently Helen is concentrating on her music career while hoping to get a record deal. “I made a record last year in Nashville (One Of These Days) and I very much want to get back in the studio to make the another one. This one would be more jazz influenced”.
