VS-Planet Announces Independent Artist Internet Radio Station
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Las Vegas, NV, August 26, 2004 – VS-Planet (www.vsplanet.com), an International on-line community dedicated to helping its members master Roland’s VS line of digital audio workstations, is proud to announce the official launching of VS-Planet Radio (VSPR), an internet radio station exclusively featuring the Independent Artists of the VS-Planet community. VSPR made its debut broadcast on December 3, 2003 and is now available 24/7 across the global internet. Currently there are over one hundred-ninety eligible artists signed up for airplay on VSPR.
“VSPR’s role is to recognize and promote artistic expression in our community, “ says VSPR Program Director Terry Walker. “We believe the internet is the future of how music will be shared/received around the world in the years to come and although we can’t promise that every Independent Artist on VS-Planet will be discovered and become famous beyond the virtual limits of our community, we can promise a radio station that includes a variety of genres, where airplay is earned and not bought. It is our intention to provide a venue that includes full service artist benefits such as publishing, record deals, and distribution. VSPR will help serve to promote our indie artists and their music around the world.”
Many VS-Planet Artists, and the Indie community in general, feel it’s also about finally having a voice and bypassing what they feel is an outdated music industry business model. As VS-Planet artist Chris Flynn, guitarist/singer/songwriter for Art In America, a band who enjoyed marginal success in the 80’s, says: “The advances made in technology have made it possible for every undiscovered bedroom genius to write and record songs at home, and then upload these songs into the internet universe. I never wanted money or fame. Scratch that – yes I did. But as I get older my goals have changed to just wanting to be heard. I am now able to share my music on VSPR with the world. How cool is that?” Terry Walker adds, “A lot of people are bored with the music that’s being put out to us by the big five record labels. I’ve always agreed that ‘MTV killed the radio star’. Maybe the internet will resurrect him again. Maybe all this will morph into something that none of us can understand at the moment. But whatever happens with the future of music, VS-Planet will be there.”
Airplay on VSPR is an exclusive benefit feature of the Premium Membership Artist Subscription Package offered by VS-Planet. To be eligible for airplay on VSPR, an artist must subscribe for premium membership. Annual artist dues cost $39.95 USD. Along with eligibility for airplay on VSPR, other features of the Premium Artist Subscription include Artist WebPages that enable up to eight (8) MP3 songs (40MB max storage) stored on-line in VS-Planet’s music depository; a pop3 email account; and UCC labels for packaging and promotion. The subscription also includes bundled VSS software: Lyricist, a powerful songwriter’s word processor and Tracknotes, a convenient recording session tracking tool. If purchased separately from the Premium Artist Package, on the VSS website, the bundled software’s street value alone is valued at $69.95.
