Norah Jones Gearing Up For Her Next Project
According to a message posted on Norah Jones’s website, norahjones.com, the Grammy-winning singer is in the early stages of her next album. Jones and The Handsome Band have just completed an exhausting world tour and are taking a breather, but bandmember Lee Alexander posts that Jones has been “writing her butt off.”
Jones said that writing songs does not come easily: “Writing is really hard for me, and I haven’t done it in a long time. I’ve only got a few songs, so it’s something I really want to work on. But I really prefer the most simple song, the better. Those are my favorite songs. I mean, there’s certainly all kinds of great songs. But what I feel really close to and what I feel like I could do the best — if I ever get my act together and get better at it — is simple stuff.”
Jones won three Grammys at this year’s award ceremonies, one for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the track “Sunrise,” off her sophomore album, Feels Like Home. The other two awards were for her work on the Ray Charles album Genius Loves Company.
Jones’ debut album, Come Away With Me, has sold over 10 million copies.
