Sofia Sondervan Appointed Senior Vice President, Feature Films, Sony BMG Music E
Sofia Sondervan has been appointed Senior Vice President, Feature Films, SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, it was announced by Andrew Lack, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, to whom she reports. Ms. Sondervan will be based at the company’s headquarters in New York City.
Ms. Sondervan, who joins SONY BMG from ContentFilm, will oversee development and production of music-related feature films in a wide range of genres, working closely with SONY BMG’s labels to identify appropriate projects for the company’s superstar and emerging artists. With this appointment, SONY BMG’s recently established Audio Visual Unit will now include film in addition to television, as previously announced.
“Sofia is a talented creative executive who brings to SONY BMG a proven ability to recognize and produce high quality film projects,” commented Mr. Lack. “With today’s appointment we will pursue music-related film opportunities that further expose our artists and their music to audiences in new and compelling ways.”
Ms. Sondervan most recently served as Head of East Coast Production for ContentFilm, since 2001. In that role she oversaw all aspects of development and production and most recently executive produced “The King,” starring Gael Garcia Bernal and William Hurt, which premiered in the official selection (Un Certain Regard) at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Productions for POP.com, a joint venture between Dreamworks SKG and Imagine Entertainment, where she was responsible for all programming. From 1998 to 2000 she served as Head of Acquisitions for Independent Pictures, a subsidiary of New Line Cinema, and prior to that, as Director of Business Affairs for Miramax Films from 1995 to 1998.
