Madonna Offers Photo Tagging Project, Draws User Submissions
Following the splashy release of Confessions On A Dancefloor,
Madonna has now added a new photo project to her website. The
initiative invites fans to post their Madonna photographs to a
dedicated photo area within madonna.com,
and tag them with various descriptive terms. Those terms will then be
used to categorize and search the database of photographs, which is
expected to grow quite large. “Our goal is to build the largest photo
archive ever,” the site declares.
The tagging site is powered by textamerica.com,
a moblog (short for “mobile blog”) destination that allows users to
automatically add images and videos directly from a cell phone. Images
can also be added from a traditional email client. The Madonna tagging
site, which recently surfaced, is likely to become flooded with user
submissions, keeping the stickiness factor high. The attention will be
nothing new for Madonna, who has orchestrated one innovative marketing
initiative after another during her multi-decade career.
