Janet Jackson’s Fans Fight Back at MTV
Janet Jackson has won more MTV Video Music Awards than any other artist except for Madonna,
Jackson was even awarded the first Icon award from the network in 2001,
her videos for songs like “If”, “The Pleasure Principle”, “All for
You”, “Got ‘Til It’s Gone”, “Love Will Never Do (Without You)”, and
“Rhythm Nation” have set the standard for the MTV network, but more
than a video artist Jackson along with Madonna rank as the most
important acts of the MTV generation, and that might be why fans of the
pop queen are crying out conspiracy when the superstars music video “Call on Me” featuring rapper Nelly only premiered on BET last week, when in the past Jackson’s videos have received world premieres. Ironically, new singers like Cheyenne Kimball and Jeannie Ortega
had world premieres on MTV’s TRL, where as Janet Jackson one of the
world’s most success artists in pop culture history was found without.
Fans of Jackson have flooded sites like www.JanetJackson.com and
www.JanetXone.com with messages about being banned from the www.MTV.com
website after creating topics about MTV’s lack of support for Jackson’s
forthcoming album “20 YEARS OLD“, the follow up to her platinum-selling “DAMITA JO” album, which also received little to no support for MTV. The network has jumped on high-profile returns by Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce and Jessica Simpson.
It has been reported, even without MTV’s support Jackson’s album is
expected to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.
