Mindy MCQ Added To Mary J. Blige/ Le Toya Concert
When asked why he chose Mindy McQ to appear on this high profile show, Terry Coughlin of Cleveland’s Hardcore Marketing replied “I’ve known of Mindy for some time now. She is an amazing talent that deserves opportunities such as these. It was an easy decision to make for me; she’s a natural fit for a show like this."
Influenced as a teenager by Sade, Aretha Franklin, and Sam Cooke, Mindy McQs warm, silky vocals and well-crafted songs puts a listener in mind of Harlem, Detroit, Chicago or Philadelphia, harking back to the classic soul tracks of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. One would never dream that these songs and that voice, so sultry and knowing, are the product of a shy, lanky girl from rural Ohio, who never thought of doing music until graduating from high school. But they are.
Initially more folk-oriented, she quickly found herself gravitating to a melding of classic soul, funk and jazz, developing a style that contains elements of such performers as Alicia Keys, Nora Jones and Jill Scott. Mindy is currently adding the finishing touches to her first full-length album with plans to be released this fall.
