
Chani, Teen Daughter of NBA Couple, Wins Award for Excellence in Hip Hop
Over last weekend, Chantel “Chani” Christie, 15, the daughter of NBA couple Doug and Jackie Christie received the 2009 Martin Luther King County Jr. Executives Award for Excellence in Hip Hop at the Musica Festival from KUBE 93.5FM Radio after being one of ten finalists nominated.
Chani Christie dedicated the award to President Barack Obama for his achievements and inauguration. The teen welcomed him stating in a statement that she dedicated her award to Obama for being a great role model for herself as well for other youth around the world and for bringing a positive change to the country.
In addition to receiving the award, Chani performed at the 37th Legislative District Democratic Inauguration Celebration for President Barack Obama performing her song “Don’t Be Shy,” which premiered this past Sunday on ABC Family and which is also featured on the soundtrack of Warner Brothers’ “Another Cinderella Story.”
In other news, the teen star has debuted her own web series entitled “Chani’s Story” which can be caught on MySpace. Fans of Chani can also enter her “Enjoy The Ride” video contest which will end on February 15th. To enter you must create your own version of Chani’s “Enjoy The Ride” video.
