Nicki Minaj Releases New Song Starships After Grammy Performance + Lyrics
Nicki Minaj became her alter ego Roman at the Grammys on Sunday when she performed her song “Roman Holiday” from her album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.” The performance included a self-exorcism, flames and what many called a mockery of speaking-in-tongues. A number of Facebook commenters believe she was killing hip-hop in the process, all the while upsetting the Catholic League.
What made everyone know that there was more to come is that the 29 year-old female hip-hop star showed up to the Grammys with a Pope look-a-like while wearing a blood red cape dress/confessional attire with a beaded Medusa on the front. From the looks of the outfit, many says it could have been a Lady Gaga inspiration. A lot of fans may have enjoyed it but it surely didn’t go over well with everyone.
One fan told MusiqQueen.com on Monday, they loved her performance and she was just being a character and that’s what she does.
“She was just performing and it was exciting the levitation that she did,” added the fan.
Amidst the controversial performance, the hip-hop rapper has now released a new song titled “Starships” produced by RedOne who’s known for producing for Lady Gaga.
According to Nicki Minaj, who spoke with host Ryan Seacrest today (Feb. 14) for Valentine’s Day about her new album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” she’s going back to her “I don’t care what you think” attitude because she felt her first album was too open and this time she wants people to enjoy the lyrics, beats and voices.
“Pink Friday; Roman Reloaded” is scheduled for release on April 3, 2012.
