Lady Gaga Honored By Scientists Who Name New Fern Species After Her: ‘GaGa Germanotta’
Botanists Names Fern After Lady Gaga and Little Monsters Due To DNA Sequence
Thanks to Botanists at Duke University, Lady Gaga’s little monters will be happy to know that there is a new fern named after her. The fern maybe can relate to the controversial singer which seems to be unique and different by having more than 19 species within the genus.
According to Professor Kathleen Pryer, they didn’t want to go the traditional way since the names are usually given in honor of old white guys. Instead, they wanted to opt for something different and name the fern after the Pop star because of her “fervent defense of equality and individual expression.”
What’s funny is the species also resemble a costume that Lady Gaga once wore during a performance which Preyer says looks like the fern gametophyte.
In addition, one of the species takes on Gaga’s stage name and surname, “GaGa Germanotta.” While another one of the species was given the name Gaga Monstraparva aka “monster little.”
