Beyonce Confronts Critics, Sings Acapella At Super Bowl Press Conference (Video)
Beyonce figured she would put an end to the press, bloggers and gossipers criticizing her lip-synced inaugural performance for President Barack Obama on January 21 by singing The Star Spangled Banner anthem during a Super Bowl XLVII (47) press conference aired on ESPN on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
The R&B singer and star, who will be performing for the Pepsi Super Bowl half-time show at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 3, 2013 at 6:30 PM EST, approached the microphone singing a live A capella two-minute rendition of The Star Spangled Banner to show to the world that she can still sing.
Following Beyonce’s singing of The Star Spangled Banner, she admitted that she did use a track that was pre-recorded to sing the anthem for her inaugural performance due to not feeling comfortable taking a risk. Beyonce revealed she did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra for the live television broadcast and it was an emotional show for her. In addition the weather, the delay, not having a proper sound check and practicing for the Super Bowl also played a role in her lip-synced performance.
“Well, I am a perfectionist…,” stated Beyonce.
The singer and actress, who has been vigorously rehearsing for the Super Bowl, made sure to say that she will be singing live for the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show come February 3.
Meanwhile, the star will not confirm whether if her husband rapper Jay-Z would join her and/or Destiny’s Child.
Fans, who would like to know if Destiny’s Child or Jay-Z will joining Beyonce on stage, will have to watch to see.
Beyonce says stayed tuned for a special announcement.
