Ready For The American Music Awards? Airs Tonight , Jan 9th at 8 PM ET on ABC.

India.Arie and Alicia Keys, who brought in seven and six nominations each for Grammys . The two will go head to head in the Best New Artist category, facing off against Nelly Furtado, David Gray and Linkin Park

Aaliyah’s (Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) and Alicia Keys (Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song) were multiple nominees in the major R&B categories. Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, and India.Arie rounded out the nominees in the Best R&B album category making it an entirely female-run category.

In the rap categories, Eve (Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Album) were among the repeat nominees.

Sheryl Crow is nominated country and Dolly Parton for Vocal Performance categories, while Trisha Yearwood’s Inside Out is nominated for Best Album category.

In order for a work to qualify for this year’s Grammy Awards, it had to be released between October 1, 2000 and September 30, 2001.

Britney Spears To Perform At NBA All-Star Literacy Event

Forget Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, a sure bet to impress audiences at next month’s NBA All-Star weekend is Britney Spears.

The pop star will be shooting out lyrics — not basketballs — when she performs during a television special organized by the National Basketball Association to promote literacy, according to Spears’ spokesperson.

Spears and other artists to be announced will perform at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on February 9 for the “The NBA All-Star Read to Achieve Celebration.”

NBC, TNT, Nickelodeon, BET, NBA.comTV and Canada’s MuchMusic will broadcast the special live simultaneously at 11 a.m. ET. (MTV’s parent company, Viacom, also owns Nickelodeon and BET.)

“NBA Inside Stuff” co-hosts Ahmad Rashad and Summer Sanders (news – external web site) will co-host the program.

Destiny’s Child To Perform At Gospel Music Awards

Fans of Destiny’s Child will get to hear both old and new songs from the trio when they tune in to gospel music’s Stellar Awards this month.

The group will perform “Gospel Medley” from Survivor (2001), and member Michelle Williams will debut “Steal Away,” a duet with gospel great CeCe Winans set to appear on Williams’ upcoming solo album. The show will be taped January 12, 2022 in Atlanta and will air in syndication on various channels.
