Beyonce, Missy & Alicia’s ‘Ladiest First Tour’ Kicks Off

The Verizon Ladies First Tour 2004 starring Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Missy Elliott, kicks off Friday (March 12) at the Office Depot Center in Fort Lauderdale. When the trio came together at a press conference to announce the outing, Alicia Keys told LAUNCH that the tour will be both a powerful and a positive experience.

“You know it just feels really good, and as you see, we’re all here together with positive energy and that’s the feeling that you’re gonna get on this tour,” Keys said. “I feel like there is no competition and there is no competitiveness because there is no comparison. We all stand alone, and we all are individuals, and when we come together it’s just going to be a force that will not be denied.”

Jada Pinkett Smith Goes on Tour

Jada Pinkett Smith and Britney Spears are taking a trip to Europe together.

Smith and her band, Wicked Wisdom, will be opening for the platinum pop princess before eight concert dates on Spears’ Onyx Hotel Tour in England in April and May.

Scoring the Spears gig is Wicked Wisdom’s biggest accomplishment to date since Smith formed the band about a year ago.

Smith has been performing in small Los Angeles venues over the past few months, honing her vocal chops.

Janet’s Almost-Live Gig

Janet Jackson is returning to America’s airwaves…but she’s not being trusted with a live performance just yet.

She of the infamous wardrobe malfunction will perform a concert on ABC’s Good Morning America later this month, but her portion of the show will air on a five-second video and audio delay, the network said.

The appearance was reportedly scheduled back in November, and after discussion, ABC execs decided to move forward with the show, scheduled for March 31 in Battery Park.

In addition to some of her hit songs, Jackson will perform her latest single, “Just a Little While, from her tepidly reviewed upcoming album, Damita Jo, due in stores March 30.

Before the performance, she’ll chat with Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson, presumably about the controversy created by her breast-baring Super Bowl appearance.

‘Cha Cha Slide’ Bumps Britney Off Top of UK Charts

LONDON (Reuters) – Aerobic dance workout “Cha Cha Slide” from Chicago DJ Casper has bumped American pop princess Britney Spears off the top of the UK singles charts after only one week, the UK Official Charts Company said Sunday.

Casper — real name Willie Perry — climbed one rung to the top slot with a number he first created in the 1990s as a workout for a gym trainer.

Spears slipped to second place with “Toxic” while Jennifer Lopez debuted at No. 3 with “Baby I Love U.”

Reality show contestant Peter Andre eased to No. 4 from third place with his re-released 1996 hit “Mysterious Girl.”

Enrique Iglesias was the week’s second highest new entry at NO. 5 with “Not in Love,” also featuring New York R&B singer Kelis.

Los Angeles rap group Black Eyed Peas at sixth were the top ten’s other new entry with “Hey Mama.”

DANVILLE, Calif. – The Janet Jackson bare breast incident during the Super Bowl halftime show is among this year’s events recognized as changing the way we speak.

A group that analyzes the latest trends in word usage declared “wardrobe malfunction” as Hollywood’s Top Word or Phrase for Impact on the English language.

“There is no question that Hollywood has had a profound impact upon word choice and usage for Global English,” said Paul JJ Payack, President of the Global Language Monitor. “‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ is but one example of a phrase that is destined to outlive the football game with which it is associated.”
