Kelly Clarkson Says Grammy Nomination Best Part Of 2003
2003 was an amazing year for American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. In April, her debut album Thankful sold more than 297,000 copies in its first week and entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at Number One. Then, last December Clarkson learned that she received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her single “Miss Independent” from Thankful.
Clarkson told LAUNCH that the Grammy nomination was the “best thing” to happen to her in 2003. “You know, just for any artist to be recognized by your peers, you know industry is the Grammy nomination,” Clarkson said. “You know that’s the people that I work with and they’re liking what I’m doing. That’s cool.”
Clarkson recently placed second in the World Idol competition, with Norway’s Kurt Nilsen coming in first.
