Dolls want new Pussycat
The Pussycat Dolls are to star in a new reality TV series.
The show, The Search For The Next Pussycat Doll–launched by
TV network CW–pits female wannabes against each other as they compete
to become the band’s seventh member. Each hour-long episode will
revolve around casting sessions, watched over by the band themselves
and their manager/creator Robin Antin.
According to Dawn Ostroff, CW’s president of entertainment, the show will focus primarily on “girl power.”
Speaking to Variety magazine, she said: “At its core, this
show goes beyond just finding a new Pussycat Doll; it’s about female
empowerment, self-discovery and personal transformation.”
The show is expected to air next year.
The Pussycat Dolls were created 10 years ago by Antin as a burlesque
act that featured a rotating roster of talent. Their debut album, PCD, has sold an estimated 4.7 million copies worldwide.
