Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson Receives Four Grammy Nominations
In a true testament to her multi-faceted talents, Academy Award winning actress/Arista recording star Jennifer Hudson and her RIAA-certified Gold self-titled debut album received 4 Grammy Award nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for “Spotlight,” and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “I’m His Only Woman” with label mate Fantasia.
“It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive 4 Grammy nominations is truly a blessing. I’m extremely honored and humbled by the nominations,” states Hudson.
Hudson’s eponymous debut album entered at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 and marked the biggest first week sales for a debut R&B female since 2004. Her first single “Spotlight” spent nine weeks at #1 on Urban radio formats, while the accompanying video was a Top 10 staple on BET’s “106 & Park” and is currently in the Top 10 on VH1.
The follow-up smash hit from the Grammy nominated album is the beautiful mid-tempo “If This Isn’t Love,” with a video premiere slated for January 2009.
