Jennifer Hudson Gives Out School Supplies to Chicago School Kids During Annual Hatch Day
Jennifer Hudson is making kids and their parents happy during the back to school event Hatch Day.
The singer gave out school supplies to deserving school kids for the 4th annual Hatch Day named in honor of her late 7 year-old nephew Julian King, who was killed along with her mother and brother in 2008.
According to Jennifer Hudson, her nephew Julian called the first day of school Hatch Day, which is the reasoning behind the name.
“The more we can help, the more we can do, the better. These kids shouldn’t have to worry about it and their parents as well,” Jennifer Hudson told ABC Chicago.
The singer was joined by her son David and her sister Julia, who participated in the excitement in giving back to their community and in remembering Julian.
