Katrina Elam Performs Hometown Show For Sell-Out Crowd
Powerhouse vocalist Katrina Elam made a triumphant return to her hometown last night, bringing a beyond-capacity crowd of nearly 9,000 to their feet at Oklahoma City’s Ford Center. Katrina is on tour as the opening act for Keith Urban’s “Alive in ’05!” tour, and she performed a special, expanded set for last night’s show. Katrina also expanded her time with fans, scheduling three separate meet and greets to accommodate more than 250 fans.
When she hit the stage, fans, family and friends welcomed Katrina home with a show-stopping roar, and her parents and grandparents cheered her on from the front row. Katrina commented from the stage, “I’ve never had to wait this long to sing!” Katrina’s expanded set included “In Oklahoma,” a song she wrote with John Rich chronicling the true-life experiences of her growing up years in the Sooner State. Katrina and John wrote the song last year, but she saved its debut for an Oklahoma stage.
Katrina’s self-titled debut CD was released last fall on Universal South Records, the same week she embarked on her first national tour, opening for Urban. The disc’s second single, “I Want A Cowboy,” a song-she wrote with co-producer Jamie Lee Sloas and Wayne Kirkpatrick, is currently at country radio.
