Job Title:
Manager Music & Media Licensing for the Digital Music and Media Group
Summary of Job:
Work closely with the Digital Music and Media Group on Funny Music Group rights clearance for online, gaming, wireless, e commerce and the digital music service. Function as the day-to-day key MML point person for all areas within the DMM Group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
– Analyze programming from the MTVN archives for clear ability in all platforms that DMM Group requires (ability to read and interpret contracts, summarize rights information accurately, analysis of music cue sheets, show logs and tracking reports to determine rights for acquired elements in programming, knowledge of music publishing rates, clip rates, photo rates etc in order to prepare accurate cost estimates on reclearance, familiarity with DMCA and new technologies).
-Hire, train and supervise one staff coordinator and additional freelance coordinators as needed to support the DMM Group.
-Work with the TV attorneys and TV MML staff on strategy for securing broad rights upfront that enable DMM Group to exploit clips etc on various new media platforms.
-Work closely with the DMM attorneys and with MusicNet on legal matters that impact rights.
-Attend the bi-monthly Viacom meeting on new business and attend key DMM meetings regularly.
-Negotiate and All Media and Gaming, Wireless, Online ratecards with the major music publishers, studios and photo houses.
-Negotiate deals with music libraries for rescoring. Work with the MML team to build on our RMS (rights management system) to ensure that it effectively captures the complexities of rights cleared for DMM Group.
-Work with the International MML Manager to ensure that we are consistent in our clearance approach for DMM platforms and to potentially share content globally.
-Must be familiar with new technologies including Wireless, Broadband, Gaming etc and the rights issues and rights challenges associated with these platforms.
-Must be well versed in or have ability to have a thorough working knowledge of MTV Networks music policy, strategy and key elements including rights under the videoclip deals, our guest releases and the indie label agreements.
-Must be familiar with MTVN programming and be able to navigate through the various departments within the company.

Job Title:
Coordinator/Sr. Coordinator Music & Media Licensing for the Digital Music and Media Group (2 positions)
Summary of Job:
– Support the Manager of Music & Media Licensing and Digital Music & Media. Negotiate rights clearance with licensors for a variety of new platforms including but not limited to wireless, digital download, e commerce and gaming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites:
-Handle the day-to-day clearances for DMM including negotiating with labels and publishers to secure necessary approvals for MTV live performances to be offered on the Digital Music Service.
-Research rightsholders and copyright information on third party elements contained in MTVN programming
-Assist manager with research of MTVN library material.
-Gather files, cue sheets, show logs and other documents necessary for clearance analysis from the TV clearance people and production.
-Review license agreements, process for execution and payment.
-Input rights information into the RMS database, PTS and other rights tracking reports.

Director, Distribution and Operations Development for Digital Music + Media
Description:
-Develop opportunities to advance and distribute MTVN digital music and media transactional businesses, such as digital music and wireless.
-Responsible for building partnerships with technology, service, and content providers in order to support the operational / functional requirements of the MTVN digital music and media businesses.
-Identify, analyze, negotiate, structure, and close strategic partnerships, distribution deals, and licensing arrangements.
-Will work closely with Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Business and Legal Affairs, mtvU, acting as point person in support of digital music and media distribution deals.

Desired Qualifications:

Design Director, VH1 (Senior Level)
Job Description:
-Collaborate with and accept oversight from the Vice President, Brand and Creative and the VH1.com Vice President, Programming and Production on all major tent pole sites, main site redesigns, and online marketing and branding projects.
-Participate in and contribute to strategic and creative planning with the VH1 Creative Dept, through biweekly team lead meetings, and strong one on one communication with its key team members.
-Co-create concepts for on air and online marketing initiatives, working closely with the VH1 Creative Team and the Director of Online Marketing.
-Work closely with VH1.com Directors to brainstorm and create online content and franchise ideas in line with our business and branding goals.
-Champion regular online branding efforts, building from or extending existing on air initiatives.

Job Description:
-Day-to-day editing of news stories for MTVNews.com, which includes line editing, copy editing, fact checking, editing for content and creation and slotting of heds, summaries, etc.
-Feature editing, which includes line editing, copy editing, fact checking, editing for contact and creation and slotting of titles, “next page” copy, etc.
-Writing copy to promote daily news stories and features on the MTVNews.com news page and on the MTV.com home page.
-Developing and maintaining an appropriate voice and tone in stories and features to correspond with audience”s interest and attitude; also working directly with writers to develop and maintain voice and tone, stressing the importance of connecting with our target audience.
-Contributing to daily news meetings and brainstorming functions.
-Staying on top of what”s happening on the channel as well as the greater issues, trends and personalities that are important to our audience.
-Working with managing editor to help make sure stories are turned in by writing team and turned around by editing team with efficiency and accuracy.
-Occasional writing of stories and/or features, as well as occasional substitution for managing editor in his/her absence.

Production. Coord., MTV.com (Community & E-Comm)
Job Description:
Production Coordinator is an intermediate level production and creative position in the Programming group of MTV.com. PCs work with Producers to help manage large and complex productions, and are delegated responsibility for segments of projects.
The P.C. for Community and E-Commerce works with both the New Business Programming group and the Series and Community group. The P.C. reports the Supervising Producer, New Business Programming. The P.C. works closely with the Community and E-Commerce Producers to ensure the integrity of their sites. Producers to whom they are assigned dictate the P.C.’s day-to-day responsibilities. P.C. is a Producer-track position that promotes to Associate Producer.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
*Strong understanding of the web and television along with other platforms of new media.
*Must be creative and have excellent communication skills.
