In a true testament to her multi-faceted talents, Academy Award winning actress/Arista recording star Jennifer Hudson and her RIAA-certified Gold self-titled debut album received 4 Grammy Award nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for “Spotlight,” and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “I’m His Only Woman” with label mate Fantasia.

Big Machine recording artist Trisha Yearwood has received three 2009 GRAMMY Nominations from her critically-acclaimed album Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love. Last night the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences honored Yearwood with nominations for Country Album of the Year (for her Big Machine debut Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love;); Female Country Vocal of the Year (for her hit single “This Is Me You’re Talking To”); and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals (for “Let the Wind Chase You,” her powerful duet with Keith Urban).

Texas-born, Louisiana-raised pianist/ vocalist/ songwriter Marcia Ball has received a 2008 Grammy Award nomination for her critically acclaimed CD, PEACE, LOVE & BBQ. This is Ball’s fourth release for Alligator Records and the third to receive a Grammy Award nomination. The winners of the 51st Grammy Awards will be announced on February 8. The other nominees in the Contemporary Blues category are Solomon Burke, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, and Irma Thomas.
